X-ray fluorescence (XRF) is an essential process in industrial laboratories, the for precise identification of ingredients in incoming inspections and quality assurance. Homogeneous melting tablets produced under strictly controlled conditions serve as the best starting point in this process. Compared with pressed powder pellets, melting tablets offer significantly greater result accuracy and reproducibility. Various manufacturers offer melting and fusion equipment in a variety of designs, but what they all have in common is that they use special, platinum-gold crucibles and casting dishes for the melting process. ÖGUSSA provides these crucibles and casting dishes for the most common melting equipment, as well as offering bespoke solutions. The alloy used, which comprises 5% gold and platinum, has been proven on the basis of its greater strength up to a temperature of 1200°C and stands out especially in silicate melting for its low level of wetting, which makes it easier to remove the melting tablets from the casting dishes. For applications at even higher temperatures, up to 1500°C, we recommend our fine-grain-stabilised FKS Pt/Au 95/5.
